Why We're Building EyeThree
Giving individuals the tools to measure and understand their own brains
The Unmeasured Impact
Digital technologies are reshaping human cognition at unprecedented scale and speed. Social media changed how we allocate attention and process information. Large language models are now changing how we think, learn, and create. These aren’t abstract concerns — we can measure the population-level effects through behavioral studies and research.
But here’s what is not readily available: measurement of how these technologies are affecting your cognitive function as an individual.
You might notice you’re less able to sustain deep focus than you were five years ago. You might feel like your learning patterns have shifted. You might wonder if constant context-switching is affecting your decision-making. But you have no objective data. No baseline. No way to see what’s actually happening in the systems doing the work.
We’re deploying increasingly sophisticated technologies that directly engage with human cognition — from AI assistants to immersive interfaces to systems that predict and shape our choices — without any individual-level measurement of their cognitive effects. We’re flying blind, and the pace is accelerating.
EyeThree exists to change that.
What We’re Building
E3Profile is a personalized brain mapping platform that makes brain function visible and trackable. It’s built on decades of neuroimaging research and uses Precision Functional Mapping — one of the most advanced brain imaging techniques available — to capture high-resolution data about how your brain is actually functioning.
We measure 16 distinct functional networks — what we call Brain Factors — that govern everything from how you maintain focus and learn new information to how you plan, regulate responses, and process complexity. For each network, we measure three key dimensions: neuroplasticity (adaptability), neural load (current effort), and composite function (overall performance state).
This gives you something unprecedented: an objective map of your brain’s current capacity that you can track over time.
Why This Matters Now
The nature of valuable work is changing rapidly. Skills that once defined success — repetition, memorization, routine execution — are increasingly automated. What matters now is creativity, adaptability, learning speed, and complex problem-solving. These are fundamentally cognitive capabilities.
But there’s a deeper reason that this matters. We have nutritional labels. We have air quality indexes. We track our sleep and heart rate. But for the organ that every technology ultimately interfaces with — our brain — we have essentially nothing.
The pattern we kept seeing was social media. Those platforms were deployed at massive scale, and only years later — through population studies and retrospective analysis — did we understand how profoundly they were reshaping attention, focus, and information processing. We saw the effects after the fact, with no ability to measure them as they were happening.
Now we’re deploying even more sophisticated technologies — LLMs that engage in complex reasoning, systems that adapt to our cognitive patterns, interfaces that learn how we think. The complexity and pace have accelerated dramatically. And once again, we have no way to measure the cognitive effects at the individual level.
As AI systems become more sophisticated at modeling human thought and behavior, questions of cognitive agency become urgent. Who understands your brain’s capabilities? Who decides how your cognitive patterns are interpreted and used?
We believe that understanding should start with you. Not as a monetized data stream, but as personal knowledge that helps you make better decisions about how you train, work, and develop cognitively.
That gap — between the sophistication of technologies reshaping cognition and our ability to measure their impact — is what drove us to build EyeThree. We’re combining deep neuroscience expertise with practical measurement infrastructure to give individuals visibility into their own cognitive function for the first time.
How We’re Different
We measure function, not structure.
Brain scans have traditionally focused on anatomy or disease detection. We’re measuring how your functional networks are actually operating — their adaptability, their efficiency, their current state.
We’re building for performance, not diagnosis.
E3Profile is a wellness platform designed for healthy individuals optimizing cognitive performance. It’s not medical technology. It’s the cognitive equivalent of metabolic testing or VO2 max measurement for athletes.
We prioritize transparency and interpretability.
You’re not getting a black-box AI score. Every metric we provide is grounded in validated neuroscience. We show you which brain systems are contributing to your results and what those patterns mean in practical terms.
We return data sovereignty to individuals.
Your brain data is yours. We’re not building advertising profiles or selling cognitive insights. We’re building tools that give you actionable self-knowledge.
What Guides Us
Science as foundation.
Our platform is built on clinical-grade measurement techniques validated by peer-reviewed research. We’re translating lab-grade neuroscience into practical tools, not creating gamified wellness metaphors.
Context over ranking.
There’s no universal “best” brain profile. A network showing high plasticity might indicate readiness for learning or inefficiency under time pressure, depending on context. We interpret your results relative to your goals and circumstances, not against arbitrary ideals.
Actionable insight, not surveillance.
The point isn’t to constantly monitor your brain. It’s to capture high-resolution snapshots at meaningful moments — before major transitions, after intensive training periods, during recovery phases — so you can make better decisions about how to train and perform.
Real-world applicability.
We’re not building for hypothetical futures. Our initial customers are people making career transitions, training for high-stakes performance, managing demanding cognitive work, or simply curious about understanding their brains at a deeper level than ever before possible.
Who This Is For
E3Profile is for individuals who want objective insight into their cognitive capacity:
Professionals navigating career transitions or stepping into more complex roles
People training for cognitive or physical competitions
Anyone managing intensive creative or technical work
Individuals recovering from periods of high cognitive demand
People curious about understanding how their brain actually functions
We’re also working with organizations in domains where cognitive performance is critical — from human-AI collaboration to high-complexity operational environments — helping them understand how systems, tools, and training programs affect actual brain function.
What We’re Not
We’re not a clinical tool.
If you’re seeking diagnosis or treatment for any condition, work with qualified healthcare providers. E3Profile measures cognitive function for performance optimization in healthy individuals.
We’re not promising enhancement.
Brain scans don’t optimize your cognition. They show you your current state. What you do with that information — how you structure your training, work, or recovery — is where performance improvement happens.
We’re not building surveillance infrastructure.
Brain measurement could easily become another extraction mechanism. We’re building in the opposite direction: toward individual understanding and agency, not institutional control.
Looking Ahead
We’re launching E3Profile later this year in New York City. Our initial focus is the consumer platform — giving individuals access to their own brain function data for the first time.
But the implications extend further. As brain measurement becomes practical and accessible, it will reshape how we think about training, education, human-computer interaction, and cognitive development across the lifespan. We’re building the infrastructure to ensure that transformation empowers individuals rather than extracting from them.
This is early days. We don’t have all the answers yet. But we have rigorous science, a clear mission, and a belief that people deserve to understand the most important asset they have: their own brain.
